Open Society Forum–Mongolia

The Open Society Forum supports and prioritizes activities such as monitoring elections, expanding access to justice, promoting transparency in natural resource revenues, and increasing citizen oversight of government budgets and expenditures. We address the issues that arise from Mongolia’s abundant mineral wealth by acting as an advocate for transparent and fair management of the country’s natural resources. We also support broader public monitoring of other national fiscal policies and budget processes.

In cooperation with the Open Society Justice Initiative, the Open Society Forum has provided legal aid to indigent people and prompted government efforts to establish legal aid centers throughout the country. We help ensure that elections are free and fair by supporting nongovernmental organizations engaged in election monitoring and voter registration. These efforts have opened up Mongolian election procedures, which had previously restricted the role of domestic election observers.
