Abdujalil Abdurasulov documents the effects of ethnic tension and discrimination against the Uzbek community in the southern cities of Osh and Jalalabad. In collaboration with local human rights activists and international organizations, Abdurasulov interviewed and photographed victims of the violence or their family members.
Abdurasulov, an ethnic Uzbek from Jalalabad, is based in Almaty, Kazakhstan. He has been working as a producer and cameraman for the BBC since 2006. A self-taught filmmaker, Abdurasulov has produced television stories that have been broadcast on the BBC World News TV and flagship UK domestic daily news programs. He has filmed stories in Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, and Saudi Arabia. He is also a journalist skilled in writing and radio production.
