Dalia Khamissy is partnering with SOLIDE (Support of Lebanon in Detention and Exile) to mobilize youth to investigate the fate of people who went missing during the 1975-90 Lebanese civil war. Khamissy will work with youth in different regions of Lebanon to document testimonies of the families of the missing. Khamissy’s photographs, shown alongside films, will be exhibited at public venues where the youth are from. The exhibition will also be installed at the tent in downtown Beirut that parents of the missing have occupied to demand investigation into the fate of their loved ones. Postcards featuring Khamissy’s photographs of missing persons’ belongings will also be distributed during these events. The project will culminate in a street exhibition in Beirut on April 13, the commemoration day marking the beginning of the civil war. Khamissy’s goal with this project is to amplify the voices of families of the missing and place pressure on the Lebanese government to search for mass graves.
