Donna De Cesare will partner with Universidad Centroamericana and the Mesoamerica Center to combine photography, theater, and skills-based media workshops for youth to address the complex ways that gang violence and migration impact the human rights of young people in Central America.

The project will consist of performances of the play De Novo (by Houses on the Moon Theatre Company) and an exhibit in El Salvador, both which draw upon De Cesare's photographic documentation of this topic. The project also includes media production and reporting workshops for barrio youth and university students aimed at gang violence prevention, peer-to-peer learning, and professional and leadership development.

The project is cofunded by the Open Society Foundations Documentary Photography Project, Initiative on Confronting Violent Crime, and Latin America Program.
