Kunda Dixit will partner with Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya on Shanti Sangralaya, to develop educational materials and set up a permanent exhibition of photographs, texts, maps, and graphics about the 1996–2006 insurgency in Nepal. The project builds on Dixit’s best-selling trilogy of books, documentary video, and exhibition that toured Nepal in 2007–2009.
Dixit will use grant funds to develop educational materials, and to take the content to schools and audiences across the country. At each exhibition venue, workshops will be held on peace journalism with local activists, media and photographers. The goal of the project is to explore the roots of violent conflict, help in the healing process and engage young Nepali men and women in working to prevent future conflict.
