Pamela Yates is partnering with the Forensic Anthropology Foundation of Guatemala and Skylight Pictures on "Granito: Every Memory Matters," a multi-platform, intergenerational approach to restore the collective memory of the Guatemalan genocide. The project uses Yate's film "Granito: How to Nail a Dictator" to engage Guatemalans-from those living in the highlands to those living abroad-forensic scientists, and youth to collect and record memories of genocide survivors using audio, video, and a mobile handheld data collection device. These photographs (including family photographs and images of forcibly disappeared young activists from the recently-discovered Guatemalan Police Archives) and interviews are uploaded to a bi-lingual website that serves as a public archive and platform for civic engagement and democratic discourse.
