Cooperative Mexico–U.S. Antinarcotics Program
The center has sought funding to bring together experts in U.S.–Mexico relations as well as domestic policy in both the United States and Mexico to examine:
- The illicit flow of arms, drugs, and money between the United States, Mexico, and other neighboring countries
- The status of the Merida Initiative, and the manifestations of this policy in Mexico
- The domestic market for narcotics in the United States and Mexico
- The structure and operations of Mexican cartels and the spillover of activity into Central America
- Corruption in Mexico and the increasing use of the Mexican military to mitigate cartel activity
- The feasibility of legalization of certain narcotics in the United States and the outcome of decriminalization in Mexico
- The economic and social costs of narcotics criminalization in the United States
