International Advocacy Project
HRC identifies the US government as a major barrier to progressive drug policy reform and the adoption of a harm reduction approach to drugs. This grant was given to HRC to influence global drug policies in the international arena by challenging the US government's restrictive and punitive approach to drug policy development both in Washington DC and at international fora. HRC has accomplished this by working with the U.S. Congress, the U.S. State Department, Office of National Drug Control Policy, Office of Global AIDS Coordinator, the new Administration, the institutions of the United Nations, and harm reduction activists, both internationally and domestically.
