Drug Policy Reform in Brazil

Using the upcoming UN Drug Conventions review as a focal point for its activities, Psicotropicus aims to institutionalize the drug policy discussion in Brazil, where an overwhelmingly conservative attitude exists in society at large, as well as among politicians, the media and health professionals. Activities will be related to drug policy reform, including harm reduction and human rights of people who use drugs.

Another important project goal is to establish or further strengthen collaboration with other organizations. An emphasis is also placed on cooperation with groups where the relevance of drug policy has not yet been fully acknowledged, such as in HIV/AIDS organizations, and reaching out to vulnerable populations.  As part of the project, Psicotropicus will advocate the predominance of UN Charter of Human Rights  over the UN Drug Conventions.
