International Doctors for Healthy Drug Policies
The purpose of the grant is to support the International Doctors for Healthy Drug Policies in bringing together medical doctors from all over the world to share experiences, expertise and good practice in reducing the harms caused by drug use and by the existence of poor drug policies. The main goal will be to develop a powerful global network of doctors that will be able to work with other networks of professionals (e.g. lawyers, nurses) to apply pressure to bring about change in policies that adversely affect people who use drugs.
Specific goals for this project are:
1. To increase membership from 12 original members in May 2009 to 50 before the International Harm Reduction Association (IHRA) conference in Liverpool in May 2010
2. To ensure good coverage of members worldwide
3. To arrange a major session at the 2010 IHRA conference in Liverpool.
