Youth RISE Vienna 2009 Project
Although disproportionately affected by substance use and drug policies, young people are rarely involved in the decision-making process. The overall aim of the Youth RISE International Network is to strengthen and increase the participation of young people in harm reduction programming and policies at all levels.
This project will support the participation of six young people at the CND and UNGASS meetings in Vienna, March 2009. Prior to these meetings, the participants will be trained and a manual of the most important documents will be produced and made available online. Partnerships will be formed between Youth RISE representatives and drug policy advocates from their regions. In Vienna, they will present at roundtables and side events, as well as have the opportunity to further network and raise the profile of young people in drug-policy making. A policy position will be developed before the meeting and a report will be drawn up afterwards.
