A grant to further strengthen the capacity of the Macedonian Sexual Health and Rights Coalition to advocate for the sexual health and rights of marginalized populations in Macedonia. The coalition will continue to use the instruments it developed in 2008 to monitor and document human rights violations against marginalized communities. Under the current grant it will hone its documentation system; research the media’s role in promoting and protecting the sexual and health rights of marginalized communities and train journalists and media editors in non-discriminatory reporting; organize panel discussions with students of medicine, law, journalism, social work, policy, and the police academy to advance the dialogue of sexual and health rights; and establish a relationship with the Ombudsman and the Human Rights Commissions in Parliament to take an active role in promoting and protecting the sexual and health rights of minority populations in Macedonia. This grant was funded in partnership with Foundation Open Society Institute Macedonia and the Public Health Program’s Law and Health Initiative and Sexual Health and Rights Project.
