Legal Aid Program to Improve Access to Public Information in Uruguay
Centro de Archivos y Acceso a la Información Pública (CAinfo) works to provide legal assistance in Uruguay to improve access to public information. The legal aid effort provided by CAinfo consists of five lawyers in Montevideo and three in other parts of the country trained to provide legal assistance to individuals and organizations. In addition, the lawyers provide support through litigation, when necessary.
Addressing Emerging Challenges on Access to Information in the Inter-American Human Rights System
Centro de Archivos y Acceso a la Información Pública (CAinfo) is writing two regional reports that will contribute to an understanding of the challenges to access to information in Latin America. The first report looks at the current institutional framework, including oversight bodies, implementation units, and legal regulations of access to information regimes in the region. The second report is a more detailed analysis of the current state of implementation of the right to information in seven Latin American countries.
