Chan will lead a grassroots campaign in San Diego County to end mandatory, unannounced, warrantless, and suspicionless home searches of people who have applied for welfare.
Chan is a JD candidate at the UC Berkeley School of Law. She has clerked with the East Bay Community Law Center’s Welfare, Law & Policy unit and the Workers’ Rights Clinic, served as co-president of the Berkeley Law Foundation, and was an active leader with the Women of Color Collective. Since 2006, Hilda has volunteered with Supportive Parents Information Network, a grassroots organization of low-income families working together to remove barriers to self-sufficiency through community building, public education, research, legal services, and policy advocacy. She is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of California, San Diego.
