The International Coalition of Sites of Conscience is a worldwide network of “Sites of Conscience” dedicated to raising awareness around the importance of historic sites by promoting dialogue on pressing current social issues as well as humanitarian and democratic values. By connecting the history of a site with its contemporary implications, the Coalition sees opportunities for civic engagement, democracy building, and promoting tolerance among young people world-wide. The Historic sites include the District Six Museum (South Africa); Gulag Museum (Russia); Liberation War Museum (Bangladesh); LESTM (US); Maison Des Esclaves (Senegal); National Park Service (US); Memoria Abierta (Argentina); Terezin Memorial (Czech Republic) and the Workhouse (UK). This general support grant is co-funded with the Strategic Opportunities Fund and the President’s Office for a total of $500,000.
