Adna Karamehic-Oates

Adna Karamehic-Oates is the program officer for South, Central, and Eastern Europe at the Open Society Foundations. In this role, she oversees the Soros national foundations in Albania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Moldova, Romania, and Slovakia, tracking and analyzing political and programmatic issues affecting these countries as well as the Balkan region. She also coordinates the Foundations’ monitoring and advocacy project on the Millennium Challenge Account.

Prior to joining the Foundations, Karamehic-Oates was at the World Bank and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Governance from Virginia Tech University, focusing on ethnic and collective identity in Bosnia and Herzegovina. She received two MAs in international development and French, and a BA in international economics from the University of Kentucky.
