Based in Abuja, Nigeria, Blessing Usie is the administration associate for the Open Society Justice Initiative. She was the administrative assistant for Open Society Initiative for West Africa, in the Abuja, Nigeria, office. Prior to that, Usie was the personal assistant to the executive director of Newton and David, an events management company with corporate headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria, managing strategic and high-powered events ranging from governmental functions to fashion and entertainment exhibitions.
Usie is a graduate of the University of Jos with a degree in theater and mass communication arts. She was engaged in several community theater exposures where the students used their drama and communication skills to influence communities in Plateau State to uphold virtues and attitudes of conflict resolution and peace building. Usie volunteered as principal support officer with the Justice Development and Peace Commission, the development arm of the Catholic Arch-Diocese of Jos, Plateau State. Her work and contribution to this office was instrumental to the establishment of community development and peace committees in the communities recovering from unrest.
