Daniel Sershen serves in the Strategy Unit as associate director for results assessment. His job is to lead the Open Society Foundations’ efforts to assess and learn from its work, with a focus on developing portfolio reviews as a means for mid-course adjustment.

Prior to joining the Strategy Unit, Sershen managed the strategic planning and review process for Open Society’s geographic operations and also directed its Central Eurasia Project. He has worked as a freelance journalist based in Kyrgyzstan, advised organizations on matters of strategy and organizational development, and filled several other programmatic and administrative positions at the Open Society Foundations.

Sershen holds a master’s in public administration from New York University and a BA from Wesleyan University.
