Daniel Sershen serves in the Office of International Operations as associate director, and also directs Open Scoiety’s Central Eurasia Project (CEP). In the first role he works with the Foundations’ senior management and regional staff to strengthen strategy, budget, and assessment processes. As director of CEP, he oversees the project’s grantmaking and information activities related to Central Asia and the South Caucasus. Thematically, CEP funds projects in the areas of human rights, transparency, and the provision of unbiased information and analysis about the region.
Previously, Sershen has worked as a freelance journalist based in Kyrgyzstan, advised organizations on matters of strategy and organizational development, and filled several other programmatic and administrative positions at the Open Society Foundations.
He holds a master’s in public administration from New York University and a BA from Wesleyan University.
