Hollie Hix-Small is a senior program manager for the Early Childhood Program. Prior to joining the Open Society Foundations in 2011, she worked as a professor in Toronto, Canada. Hix-Small’s expertise lies in supporting very young children, birth to age three, who are experiencing developmental and social emotional difficulties. In this role, she supports several geographically dispersed projects focused on very young children and their families and oversees the development of national early childhood intervention systems and service provision in Central and Eastern Europe and Eurasia.
Prior to her current position, she served as an investigator on several research projects and previously worked as a data analyst utilizing advances statistical techniques. She holds a BSc (honors) in developmental psychology, an MSc in early intervention, and earned her doctorate in early intervention, special education at the University of Oregon in 2007.
