Kathleen Freis

Kathleen Freis is program manager of Undergraduate Exchange Programs of Open Society Foundations Scholarship Programs. She oversees three programs including the Undergraduate Exchange Program, EARTH University scholarships, and the Africa Mobility Initiative.

Freis has been dedicated to the promotion of human rights and social entrepreneurship among youth, educators, philanthropists, and not-for-profit staff. Previously, she served as manager at Synergos Institute, education director at the International Center for Tolerance Education, program director at the Hague Appeal for Peace, and Program Manager at the National Puerto Rican Forum. She has worked in Costa Rica, taught courses in Chile and India, led programs in Hungary, and organized conferences in Turkey, Peru, and Albania.

Freis earned a master’s degree in International Education Development with a concentration in Peace Education from Teachers College Columbia University and bachelor’s degree in English from Villanova University.
