Merit Ulvik is the associate legal officer on freedom of information and expression at the Open Society Justice Initiative. She holds a law degree from the Faculty of Law, University of Tartu, and an LLM in human rights from Central European University.
Ulvik interned with the Justice Initiative from 2008 to 2009, working on legal capacity development and freedom of information projects. Previously, Ulvik worked as a consultant and a project assistant for European Youth Centre Budapest for the Council on Europe, where she assisted in the execution of the Youth Centre’s human rights programs for the young; participated in the development team on a human rights education manual for children; helped in the editing and the compilation of a training manual on gender-based violence. In 2002, Ulvik assisted in compiling an application to the European Court of Human Rights.
