Peter Nizak

Peter Nizak is director of the Hungary Project, part of the Open Society Initiative for Europe. Nizak joined Open Society Foundations in 2008, having worked in the Hungarian NGO sector since 1991.

His previous roles include program coordinator of the Independent Ecological Center from 1992 to 1996, executive director of DemNet Foundation (1996–2002), program director of Civil Society Development Foundation (2002–2003) and executive director of the Hungarian Soros Foundation (2006–2007).

Since 2009, he has also served as chief editor of the Civil Review quarterly journal. Since 1993, Nizak has delivered lectures at the Eötvös Loránd University (University of Budapest) on civil society and third sector issues.
