Peter Scott is professor of Higher Education Studies at the Institute of Education at the University of London. Previously, he was pro vice-chancellor and professor of education at the University of Leeds, vice-chancellor of Kingston University, and president of the board of the Brussels-based Academic Cooperation Association. He is a member of the advisory board of the Higher Education Policy Institute and the Magna Charta Observatory, a Europe-wide body that defends university freedoms. From 2000 to 2006, Scott was a member of the board of the Higher Education Funding Council for England. Scott has a first in modern history from the University of Oxford (Merton College). He was a visiting scholar at the Graduate School of Public Policy at the University of California at Berkeley while holding a Harkness Fellowship awarded by the Commonwealth Fund of New York.
