The Open Society Institute–Budapest acts as the administrative and operational headquarters for a number of Open Society initiatives. The office also provides administrative, financial, and technical support to other parts of the Open Society Foundations.
The following initiatives have offices in Budapest: Education Support Program, Global Drug Policy Program, Information Program, International Higher Education Support Program, Human Rights Initiative, Program on Independent Journalism, Open Society Justice Initiative, Public Health Program, Roma Initiatives Office, and Think Tank Fund.
The Open Society Institute–Budapest is located in the Central European University complex, and its programs often share resources with the university.
The Open Society Institute Budapest Foundation – the member of Open Society Foundations registered in Hungary - constitutes a foreign financed organization under the par. 1.1 of the Act LXXVI of 2017.
