Submission to the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination: Italy
The Open Society Justice Initiative and the Associazione Studi Giuridici sull’Immigrazione (“ASGI”) tendered this submission to the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination in preparation for its periodic review of Italy on March 5, 2012.
The report highlights increasing levels of discrimination against minority groups since Italy’s last review in 2008, specifically against Roma and Sinti communities and migrants living in Italy, which has resulted in violations of Article 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.
