Awarded Grants

Funds to support this grant are drawn from AOSI’s Joint Fund to Promote and Advance Constitutionalism in South Africa (the "Constitutionalism Fund"), a collaboration among The Atlantic Philanthropies, the Ford Foundation and the Open Society Foundations. The Constitutionalism Fund has a mandate to support the efforts of civil society organizations to promote and advance constitutionalism in South Africa. In addition, emphasis is placed on internal institutional transformation such that key organizations in the field reflect the national demographic. This mandate also extends to the sustainability and transformation of the field more broadly. The grant is made consistent with this mandate and in support of the Grantee’s submitted and approved proposal and budget

to support the Africa Fact 2 Meeting to take place on the 18 June 2019 in Cape Town South Africa

to engage in an in-depth study to understand how microcredit interfaces with the inadequate social protection programs in Makueni, Kenya

to provide support to the Grantee to run its community outreach and training programs effectively

to document work done in defending human and civil rights among underprivileged communities

to develop a Civil Society Resource Center with the aim of identifying, training and mentoring emerging and existing civil society organization's leadership and organizations helping to rebuild civil society in Ethiopia

to support Grantee's charitable programs, which aim to promote and develop of African culture and art

To advocate for public financing for community-based models for people with mental disabilities in Kenya

to convene the partners of the Regional Campaign on the Decriminalisation of Petty Offences in Africa to 1) build the relationship between the Campaign and police organisations; and 2) develop strategies and skills in the mobilisation of impacted constituencies

to strengthen the capacity of the Grantee’s Department of Rural Economy and Agriculture and Regional Economic Communities to advance intra-Africa Trade in Agricultural commodities and Services through the Africa free Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA)
