Erika Dailey is senior officer for research and publications at the Open Society Justice Initiative.
In 2000, Dailey joined the Open Society Foundations, working with the Central Eurasia Project on research, grantmaking, and human rights advocacy, including as founding director of its Turkmenistan Project (2002–07). In 2008, she served as the Open Society Foundations’ deputy director of International Operations and until 2014 as its deputy director in the Office of Programs.
She previously worked for seven years as a field researcher and advocate for Human Rights Watch based in New York and Moscow, and has also consulted with the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights, the International League for Human Rights, and UNICEF.
Educated at Princeton, Leningrad State, and Columbia universities, her academic and human rights efforts have focused on the USSR and the post-Soviet space, particularly the South Caucasus and Central Asia, and on civil rights and the laws of war.
