Giorgi Gogia has been a senior South Caucasus researcher at Human Rights Watch covering Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia since 2006.
Gogia has worked and written extensively on property rights, criminal justice reform, police brutality, freedom of expression, and media freedoms. During Georgia’s recent period of armed conflict, he researched and wrote on human rights and international humanitarian law. Before joining Human Rights Watch, Gogia worked for International Crisis Group as a senior analyst, researching and writing on protracted conflicts in the South Caucasus–Abkhazia, South Ossetia, and Nagorno-Karabakh.
Gogia holds an MA in political science from Central European University in Hungary and is a PhD candidate in political science at Ilia State University in Georgia.
