Leah Wissow is a litigation fellow with the Open Society Justice Initiative. Her regional focus has been on the Middle East, as she previously worked on issues of transitional legal development for MENA clients with the Public International Law & Policy Group and with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs on U.S. policy towards the region. She has also worked in the areas of immigration, U.S. constitutional law, and international public health. She has studied Spanish, French, and Arabic and spent the summer of 2009 in Syria for intensive language training. She received a B.A. in political science and Middle East studies from McGill University and a J.D. from American University Washington College of Law. She is currently pursuing an M.A. in International Affairs from American University School of International Service.
