As director general of the European Consumer Organisation (BEUC), Monique Goyens represents 43 independent national consumer associations in 31 European countries, acting as a strong consumer voice in Brussels. Goyens is a consumer expert and advocate and was a member of the EU High-level Expert Group on reforming the structure of the EU banking sector and the EU Resource Efficiency Platform. She is now member of the EU High Level Forum for a Better Functioning Food Supply Chain and a delegate in the Consultative Commission on Industrial Change of the European Economic and Social Committee. Goyens is an effective member of the Euro Retail Payments Board and recently was appointed to the advisory groups of the European Commission on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership and Transparency International EU. Goyens’s work at the BEUC includes acting as co-chair of the Transatlantic Consumer Dialogue, a network of EU and U.S. consumer organizations. She also represents the BEUC at Consumers International, the international consumer organization.
Goyens brings an understanding of pan-European civil society networks and is a well-recognized and influential voice for consumers, corporate accountability, and the integration of migrants.
