Peter Matjašič

Peter Matjašič is program officer within the accountability and participation unit of the Open Society Initiative for Europe, where he currently leads the protecting the right to hold governments to account portfolio as well as the reserve-fund based portfolio on fighting abusive counter-terrorism measures in France.

In addition, Matjašič is the Open Society Initiative for Europe–Western Balkan Foundations Program liaison serving as a resource to help the national foundations better understand where Open Society stands in terms of its current grant making practice. Before joining the Open Society Foundations, he was project manager at Avanti Europe. Matjašič has been active in the field of youth work for 12 years, starting with the Young European Federalists and finishing as president of the European Youth Forum (2011–2014) advocating for the rights of young people and their organizations. He set up the English version of Le Taurillon webzine under the name, serving as its first editor-in-chief.

Matjašič holds an honors degree in international relations of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ljubljana and speaks eight languages.
