Silvio Waisbord is a professor of graduate studies in the School of Media and Public Affairs at George Washington University. Waisbord’s most recent books include Vox Populista (Gedisa, 2013), Reinventing Professionalism: Journalism and News in Global Perspective (Polity, 2013), and Media Sociology: A Reappraisal (Polity, 2014). He is editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Press/Politics and the Journal of Communication. His areas of interest are journalism and politics and media and communication in aid, development, and social change.
Waisbord holds a PhD in sociology from the University of California, San Diego, and a licenciatura in sociology from the Universidad de Buenos Aires.
