Soheïla Comninos is a program officer with the Open Society Human Rights Initiative. Her work focuses on criminal justice issues and the right to liberty.
Comninos has more than 10 years of experience working in the humanitarian sector, with a focus on the protection of human rights and international humanitarian law in countries affected by armed conflict. Her work with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) included assignments in Iraq, Libya, Sudan, and Cameroon and Central Africa, where she served as protection coordinator for the ICRC delegation. She has also worked with the British Red Cross; the North Atlantic Treaty Organization; and the Galilee Society–The Arab National Society for Health, Research, and Services, based in Shefa-’Amr, Israel.
Comninos holds an MA in Near and Middle Eastern studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, and a diploma in political science from the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po).
