Before retiring in 2007 to pursue philanthropy full time, William C. Clarke III worked for 30 years as a founding partner of Campbell & Company, a hedge fund based in Baltimore, Maryland. As executive vice president of research, he oversaw portfolio management and the development of successful trading models specializing in futures markets. Clarke’s family foundation, the Osprey Foundation, focuses on water-based issues and interfaith thinking. For over 13 years, Clarke has used his philanthropy to pursue social justice, including health care and economic empowerment partnerships with the Mayan population in Guatemala. In addition to chairing the Open Society Institute–Baltimore board, Clarke serves as treasurer on the IMA World Health board, and on the health board of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Clarke graduated from Lehigh University with a BS in finance.
