The Open Society Institute Baltimore presents Moving Walls 9: Damaged Landscapes/Resilient Spirits, featuring photographs of war-torn Iraq and Afghanistan by Steve McCurry and Sean Hemmerle. The exhibit also includes photographs by Baltimore-based artist Linda Day Clark and young people from three Baltimore City after-school programs.
Moving Walls is an ongoing series of photography exhibitions addressing social justice issues. The Open Society Institute curates and organizes these traveling shows to enlighten and engage, challenge and inspire.
OSI will host an opening reception and educational forum on Wednesday, April 19, 2006, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Speakers include:
- Sean Hemmerle, Photographer;
- Linda Day Clark, Photographer;
- Ralph E. Moore Jr., Director of Community Service, St. Frances Academy.
Art on Purpose, a nonprofit organization providing art workshops, exhibitions, and programs in support of education, social justice, and community service, coordinates Moving Walls 9 in Baltimore for the Open Society Institute–Baltimore.
