Leah Penniman is co-director of Soul Fire Farm, a working family farm that provides education and training in ways to dismantle structural racism in the food industry and promote best practices for sustainable agriculture. She also teaches environmental science at Darrow School in New Lebanon, New York, and previously taught science at Renssalaer’s Tech Valley High School.
Penniman’s work in farming began at the Food Project in Boston. She worked at the Farm School before joining Many Hands Organic Farm, where she was co-manager. She co-founded Youth Grow in Worcester, MA, working with farmers in Ghana, West Africa and Komye, Haiti.
Pennington graduated from Clark University and also has an MA in teaching from Clark.
