Luis Angel Reyes-Savalza will create a community-led deportation defense model that involves legal representation and organizing with undocumented immigrants.
Reyes-Savalza is an undocumented attorney at Pangea Legal Services in San Francisco, a nonprofit that provides legal representation in the area of deportation defense. As a law student, he defended immigrants facing deportation as part of New York University School of Law’s Immigrant Rights Clinic and Advanced Immigrant Rights Clinic. He also served as an articles editor of the New York University Law Review. Prior to law school, Reyes-Savalza was active in the immigrant rights movement, helping to organize protests against the deportations taking place in California and across the country. He holds a BA in political economy and political science from the University of California, Berkeley, and received his JD from the New York University School of Law, where he was a Bickel & Brewer Latino Institute for Human Rights Scholar.
