Valencia Gunder will create a rapid response toolkit to advance solutions to the overlapping problems of community/inter-personal violence and police violence.
Gunder is a Miami-based advocate and organizer. Affectionately known as “The Big Mouth of Liberty City,” she has organized a number of high-turnout events in the area, including the annual “I Am Woman” Women’s Expo, Hoodweek with the Belafonte-TACOLCY Center, and the Liberty City Climate Action Forum. She most recently served as the Climate Organizer at New Florida Majority, where she mobilized frontline communities affected by climate change and worked to bring green jobs and training opportunities to residents in many of Miami’s underserved neighborhoods. Gunder is also the founder and CEO of Make the Homeless Smile, which provides services to homeless people in Miami and Atlanta. She is a graduate of Florida A&M University, where she received a BS in International Agricultural Business.
