In this article, Katy Negrin discusses the need for a broad agreement and appropriate use of ethnic data. She points out the issues with current ethnic data collection standards, and that international guidelines for the collection and protection of personal data—and the involvement of minorities themselves in all aspects of data collection—is one crucial means of addressing some of the inherent problems.
