The Open Society European Policy Institute invites you to the launch of Civil Society Voices: How the EU Should Engage Its Eastern Neighbours. This policy paper—the result of extensive discussions with experts and civil society leaders from the Eastern Partnership countries—highlights local concerns and expectations about the EU’s future role in the region and its commitment to support stability and democracy.
Will the EU succumb to Russian pressure and backtrack on its political role in the Eastern Partnership region? How can the EU help the three signatories of association agreements bear the high political, economic, and security costs and make the most of the association process? What is the EU’s leverage with the other three partners who do not pursue closer integration? As EU policymakers prepare for the Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga, panelists will grapple with these questions while engaging with the content of the paper and its findings.
