Since 2001, the conflict in northwest Pakistan has killed and injured thousands of civilians, displaced millions, and destroyed homes and livelihoods.
Christopher Rogers, a field fellow with the Campaign for Innocent Victims in Conflict (CIVIC), spent a year in Pakistan interviewing more than 150 war victims and documenting civilian losses. CIVIC recently released a report of his findings that documents the civilian toll, outlines current amends programs available to those harmed, and highlights the need for more help to victims and survivors.
At this event, Rogers will discuss the report's findings and his experiences throughout the year of field research. The conversation will focus not only on the immediate costs of conflict for Pakistani communities but also on the painstaking recovery and rebuilding process that is so key to bringing stability and security to this area.
There will be an opportunity for questions following the presentation.
Erica Gaston, program officer for the Afghanistan-Pakistan Regional Policy Initiative at the Open Society Foundations, will moderate.
