Crude World: The Violent Twilight of Oil (November 11, 2009)

The Revenue Watch Institute hosts a lunchtime discussion with journalist Peter Maass, author of Crude World: The Violent Twilight of Oil.

In Crude World, Maass examines "oil's indelible impact on the countries that produce it and the people who possess it," through topics including the debate over remaining Saudi oil reserves, vast inequalities in the distribution of Equatorial Guinea's oil wealth, attempts to rebuild Iraq's oil industry, and the current court battle between Ecuador and Chevron.

Revenue Watch Director Karin Lissakers will moderate a discussion with Maass about his reporting and "the troubled world oil has created."

Revenue Watch is a partner and grantee of the Open Society Institute.
