At the 54th Session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs, this side event will explore the relations between illicit drug economies and socioeconomic development from a research and development practitioner perspective.
The Nossal Institute of Global Health in Melbourne, Australia, will present findings from an in-depth study, Development in a Drugs Environment. In addition, the GIZ Development-Oriented Drug Policy Programme will reflect on the core findings of the study, discussing the complex interrelationships between illicit drug production, trafficking and consumption, and socioeconomic development based on its field experiences in different world regions.
