The Institute of Public Affairs, Poland, in cooperation with the Hungarian National Focal Point and the Human Rights Initiative, is hosting an international seminar on drug use prevention policy and practice.
Zofia Mielecka Kubieñ (Karol Adamski University of Economics, Katowice), and Dorota Wiszejko-Wierzbicka (Institute of Public Affairs), will present their study on the economic consequences of punishing people for the possession of illicit substances in Poland. Gergely Horvth will present the Hungarian National Focal Point's findings on changes in drug-related public expenditure.
Topics for discussion include: Polish and Hungarian drug laws, penalties for drug possession, institutional realities, and the costs of law implementation and enforcement.
