There has been a global increase in emergencies resulting from war, conflict, and natural disasters that have had a dramatic effect on children’s social development. Crises often disrupt schooling and threaten a child’s future as well as a country’s stability. About a quarter of students who do not attend school live in crises-affected countries, where humanitarian aid is often insufficient to provide long-term educational opportunities.
This panel discussion will bring together a diverse group of experts in education, including direct responders who work to ensure children receive quality education in emergency situations. They will share innovative approaches to providing education, opportunities for further investment, and strategies for how stakeholders can support education in existing and future crises.
