To celebrate the 75th birthday of Win Tin, distinguished Burmese journalist and close adviser to Aung San Suu Kyi, who has been imprisoned since July 1989, the Foreign Correspondent Club of Thailand invited three Burmese journalists and a foreign press correspondent for a panel discussion on the latest political developments in Burma. They debated how to avoid being misled by rumors, how to check information, and how to carry out investigative reporting when the military government makes the job so difficult.
Panelists
Aung Zaw, Irrawaddy editor Larry Jagan, former BBC correspondent Khin Maung Win, Democratic Voice of Burma deputy-director (based in Norway) Zinn Lin, Burma Media Association
Moderator: Philippe Latour, Reporters Without Borders
