OSI s Office of the Africa Regional Director and grantee the Human Rights Advocates Program welcomed 2005 Human Rights Advocate Mawuli Dake, Program Manager for the Women s Initiative for Empowerment and Leadership Development (WIELD) Foundation in Ghana, where he works to promote leadership and empowerment of women and girls in Africa. He also serves as the International Solidarity Coordinator for the Ghana National Coalition Against privatization of Water. Dake presented his ideas on challenges and opportunities for gender equality in Africa, particularly regarding the responsibility of men.

The Human Rights Advocates Program, a capacity-building program run by the Center for the Study of Human Rights at Columbia University, prepares human rights leaders to participate in national and international policy debates on rights and the global economy.
