The event was designed to address such questions as, What will the future hold now that Iraqis voted on the constitutional referendum on October 15, 2005? Will the country spiral further into violence and sectarian strife, or will the new constitution create a framework for continued debates on religion, federalism, and the role of women in Iraqi society?
Participants included:
- Nathan Brown, Senior Associate with the Democracy and Rule of Law Project at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace;
- Ambassador Peter Galbraith, Senior Diplomatic Fellow at the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation and participant in negotiations over the Iraqi Constitution;
- Yahia Said, Director of OSI s Iraq Revenue Watch project and a Research Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Global Governance at the London School of Economics.
