The Central Eurasia Project of the Open Society Institute presented a discussion on Kyrgyzstan's battle for a new constitution with Shairbek Juraev, Research Director at the Institute for Public Policy, Bishkek.
Shairbek Juraev joined the Institute for Public Policy in September 2005 after receiving his master's degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics, and BA with Honors in International and Comparative Politics from American University–Central Asia. He also attended the University of Mississippi as an exchange student in 2001–2002. Shairbek's practical experience includes civic dialogue project management at the Institute for War and Peace Reporting in Bishkek, a teaching apprenticeship at American University–Central Asia, coaching and training debate teams for the Soros Foundation Kyrgyzstan's debate program and an apprenticeship at the Bishkek office of EBRD. His current interests include political institution-building in Kyrgyzstan, informal politics,and related issues.
