The goal of the conference was to support strategy development in education policy so that foundations meet the multicultural education needs in their countries.

The program inlcuded discussion about policy, planning, and methodology aspects, and sharing practice and discussing problematic points related to minority education. Conference participants discussed the policy paper "Multicultural Education and the Education of Minority Pupils" developed by IEP. They also shared information about effective foundation programs, including good methods and techniques related to the successful schooling of Roma children.

There were 40 participants from 16 countries. The foundations were represented from the countries where multicultural education or the education of minorities is a priority area. This meant most countries in Central and Eastern Europe.

The following key speakers participated:

  • Susan Rona
